A visitor explored Scenic Hwy. 209. They are now at the intersection of Hwy. 209 and Interstate 40. They refuel themselves and their vehicle. While there they decide to go on to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge, TN. They are ready to roll and take Interstate 40 East, towards Asheville.
“Wait a minute; I’m going the wrong way!”
Realizing their mistake, they get off at the next exit, make a U-turn and start heading West. Do you know what this is called? Repentance! Repentance is a change of attitude, a change of mind, a change of heart, that causes a person to turn around and move in a new direction.
Repentance leads a person to ACT on what they believe.
There’s a parable/story in the book of Luke, that Jesus tells of a lost son (or loving Father). This story is really about what happens to us when we get back on track with God. You can find it in Luke 15, verses 11 – 24.
We all have shortcomings with our relationship to Father God. The Prophet Isaiah puts it this way; “All we like sheep have gone astray, we have turned everyone to his own way; and the Lord has made to light upon Him the guilt and iniquity of us all.” AMPC (see also I Pet. 2:24, 25).
In Romans 3:21 – 24, the Apostle Paul tells us by Holy Spirit that we can be made righteous by believing in Jesus. That we are not righteous by “keeping the law” – which are “dos and don’ts”.
So, by receiving Father God’s FREE gift of righteousness (Jesus) and allowing Jesus to have our life, we become righteous!
Let’s turn to Father God for mercy and forgiveness, recognize that Jesus is LORD and God will have compassion, restoring us to full sonship with Him. Have we ever turned away? Why don’t we turn now to God and repent.
