How do you stop a war?

“For I joyfully concur with the law of God in the inner man but I see a different law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members.” (Romans 7:22-23, NASB)

As an attendee of a weight-loss program, the challenge is changing my thoughts and visualizing the new me. My body doesn’t want to cooperate, but the more workshops I attend, the more my mind is renewed, causing an alignment between the two.

The body of Christ acts in a similar way, helping each other by using Scriptures to keep on track. Our guide is Holy Spirit and the Bible, because “For as he thinks in his heart, so is he” Proverbs 23:7 (NKJ). To think correctly, we need God’s viewpoint.

“Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, squeezed into the mold of this present age but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in His eyes.” Romans 12:2 (TPT)

“Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and

admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” Philippians 4:8 (NLT)

Imagine thinking this way! To “think on things above” and not on our current circumstances or what got us there? Instead, let’s think our way out of our unwanted circumstances by meditating on the Word of God that applies to our situation.

Keeping God’s Word in front of us all the time can be done by memorizing His Word and/or having the Word posted where we see it. This leads to a life of victory, and ultimately the destiny God has written about us in our Heavenly book.

There are people who are needlessly in hell, or died early because they did not heed or pay attention to what God says. Don’t join them, we have a choice! “For the sense and reason of the flesh is death, but the mind-set controlled by the Spirit finds life and peace.” (Romans 8:6, TPT)

Let’s do what pleases God by living out of our spirit, guided by Holy Spirit.
