To be considered “saved” we must believe on Jesus, Who He is and what He has done for us. Through this belief, Jesus removes our sins (past, present and future) and declares us forgiven.

Our belief and forgiveness of sins leads us to be water baptized; an open, public act of faith in Jesus and the power of His name. 2 Corinthians 5:17 says; “Now, if anyone is enfolded into Christ, he has become an entirely new person. All that is related to the old order has vanished. Behold, everything is fresh and new!” (TPT)

What’s new? We may find ourselves changing friends, employment, hobbies, clothing styles and ways of entertaining ourselves. Our old identity, life of sin, power of satan, religious works and old mind-sets don’t satisfy any longer.

“Into Christ” or “in Christ” is used over 300 times in the New Covenant. It always refers to a vital, union relationship with God. So, what part of us changed immediately when we became a Christian? The answer is in 1 Thessalonians 5:23; “Now, may the God of peace and harmony set you apart, making you completely holy. And may your entire being – spirit, soul and body – be kept completely flawless in the appearing of our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One.” (TPT)

Did you catch that we are made up of 3 parts? Spirit, soul and body. The body is our physical being. The soul contains our mind, will and emotions. The spirit belongs to either the devil (death) or God (life) depending on what we believe about Jesus, if we act on that belief AND keep on believing to the end.

When a person becomes a Christian, their spirit changes kingdoms: from the kingdom of darkness to the Kingdom of Light. The life Jesus came to give is abundant life, more than we can ask or think (John 10:10)! It motivates us to experience His holy and complete or “Zoe” life – an absolute, abundant life! Operating separately from God is what causes all the problems.

Our identity in Christ must start with a re-birth, then God places His Holy Spirit inside of us. We receive a new quality of life, a new identity and are a totally new person in our spirits! The remainder of our Christian life is spent learning in our soul what happened in our spirit.

"And these miracle signs will accompany those who believe: They will drive out demons in the power of My name. They will speak in tongues. They will be supernaturally protected from snakes and from drinking anything poisonous, and they will lay hands on the sick and heal them."
