Today’s topic is “Deliverance” from the demonic. Christians can be oppressed by devils. Non-Christians can be oppressed and/or possessed by devils. So, it’s extremely important for us to know how to defend ourselves against these attacks.
Acts 10:38 (Peter speaking); “Jesus of Nazareth was anointed by God with the Holy Spirit and with great power. He did wonderful things for others and divinely healed all who were under the tyranny of the devil, for God had anointed Him.”
About 25% of Jesus’ Earthly ministry was spent casting out devils. These evil or unclean spirits were manifesting as sickness, disease, or physical problems. “The reason the Son of God was revealed, was to undo and destroy the works of the devil” (1 John 3:8).
Are there people we know that need the devil cast out of them so they get free? No one is immune from a demonic attack, however, a Christian should be equipped with the Word of God to cancel and cast down these advances. If we don’t, the demons try to make us their abode.
Understand, these are entities looking for a body to take over!
The Word has power, and spoken aloud it brings out the demonic in people, including
ourselves! “Embrace the power of Salvation’s full deliverance, like a helmet to protect your thoughts from lies. And take the mighty razor-sharp Spirit-sword of the spoken Word of God” Ephesians 6:17.
What 3 words did Jesus answer satan with? “It is written.” Then, He quoted aloud God’s Word that pertained to that temptation. As a disciple of Jesus, we’re to do the same. The only weapon we’ve got is the Sword of the Spirit, the Word of God!
“Because of (Christ’s) obedience, God exalted Him and multiplied His greatness! He has now been given the greatest of all names! The authority of the name of Jesus causes every knee to bow in reverence. Everything and everyone will one day submit to this name—in the heavenly realm, in the earthly realm, and in the demonic realm. And every tongue will proclaim in every language: ‘Jesus Christ is Lord Yahweh,’ bringing glory and honor to God, His Father!” (Philippians 2:9-10a)
