Do you love the autumn season? Cooler temps, changing leaves, the celebration of harvest time? However, many of us don’t care for the focus our commercial world and some individuals have placed on one particular day – October 31st.
Were you aware that there are different kinds of spirits? Familiar spirits follow family blood lines and make you think, “If it happened to (relative), it will happen to me.” A spirit of infirmity binds with a physical ailment. There are spirits of fear, gluttony, pharmacia, etc. who seek to take life from us. Then there are the “spirits” we call alcohol, which is highly addictive. All have their origin in satan.
Acts 8:14-17, Philip is in a town of Samaria where Simon the sorcerer lives. Simon practices magic and is called a “wizard”. Simon dazzled the people with tricks and they were in awe until they saw real miracles, signs, and wonders that God was doing by the Holy Spirit through His servant, Philip.
What was it Simon saw and heard that made him want the Holy Spirit? Miracles, signs and wonders are God’s “dinner bell” that calls people to Himself. Holy Spirit gives believers a prayer language, so it’s likely that Simon heard believers speak in tongues when they received Holy Spirit.
This language is for edifying self as well as the congregation during worship (1 Corinthians 13 & 14). Holy Spirit unveils truth, speaks what He hears from Father God, and tells us things to come. He also glorifies Jesus on the Earth and exposes sin (John 16:8, 13 and 14).
To better understand Who Holy Spirit is, know that there’s a distinction between water baptism for the forgiveness of sins, and the baptizing Jesus does by giving the gift of Holy Spirit. Baptism in Holy Spirit is given to those who believe, have been water baptized, and want the Holy Spirit to manifest in their lives. Being baptized in Holy Spirit happens when a believer who has the gift of Holy Spirit, lays hands on another believer who is wanting the gift of Holy Spirit (Acts 19:2-7).
“If imperfect parents know how to lovingly take care of their children and give them what they need, how much more will the perfect Heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit’s fullness when His children ask Him.” – Jesus (Luke 11:13; TPT).
The spirit realm is real. Ask for the Holy Spirit after you have believed in Jesus and are water baptized.
