Reviewing Part 1, our identity in Christ begins with a re-birth; God placing His Holy Spirit inside of us. Our spirit changes kingdoms from darkness to Light. We receive a new quality of life, a new identity and are totally new in our spirits! The remainder of our Christian life is spent learning in our soul (mind, will and emotions) what happened in our spirit.

How do we go about learning what happened in our spirit and what do we do? Glad you asked!

The Apostle Paul, in his letter to the believers in Rome, Italy tells us in Romans 12:1-2;

“Beloved friends, what should be our proper response to God’s marvelous mercies? To

surrender yourselves to God, to be His sacred, living sacrifices and live in holiness, experiencing all that delights His heart. For this becomes your genuine expression of worship. Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think.

This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in His eyes.” TPT Start by surrendering to God, be a living sacrifice, live in holiness, stop acting like un-believers and transform your thinking through hearing, reading and practicing God’s Word. Christians study the Word of God to prove themselves. That is, to know who they are in Christ and be able to share this with others who might believe their testimony.

2 Timothy 2:15 tells us; “Always be eager (or consider it a serious matter) to present yourself before God as a perfect and mature minister, without shame, as one who correctly explains the Word of Truth.” TPT

Victory in the Christian life comes when we are able to look into the Word of God, which is Spirit and Life, to see who we are. The Word acts like a mirror. We see what God has done and this confirms who we are becoming.

Test your understanding: 1. In Ephesians 2:1, what was our condition before we were born again? 2. In Ephesians 2:2, as an unbeliever, how did we live? 3. Read Ephesians 2:3-5; a) what is God rich in and why? b) What did God do for us while we were dead in our sins? Answers coming next week!

"And these miracle signs will accompany those who believe: They will drive out demons in the power of My name. They will speak in tongues. They will be supernaturally protected from snakes and from drinking anything poisonous, and they will lay hands on the sick and heal them."
