The Believer's Authority - Part 2

We want to continue talking about the Believer's Authority. We have authority over the power of satan.

Let’s begin with 2 Corinthians 10:3 – 5 (TPT) “For although we live in the natural realm, we don’t wage a military campaign employing human weapons, using manipulation to achieve our aims. Instead, our spiritual weapons are energized with divine power to effectively dismantle the defenses behind which people hide.  We can demolish every deceptive fantasy that opposes God and break through every arrogant attitude that is raised up in defiance of the true knowledge of God. We capture, like prisoners of war, every thought and insist that it bow in obedience to the Anointed One.”

Every weapon mentioned refers to our mind, thoughts and perceptions. No evil can overtake a born-again believer EXCEPT through lies and deception. So, we could say that the only power the enemy has against us is the power we give him. Study “Truth” and we will know when we’re being deceived.

When God created the Heavens and the Earth, He had all power and authority. When God created Adam and Eve He said, “Let them have dominion. . . over all the Earth.” (Gen 1:26, ESV). Again, Psalm 115:16 (NKJ) “The Heaven, even the Heavens, are the Lord’s, but the Earth He has given to the children of men.”

God had ownership of everything by right of being Creator. He gave dominion or authority over the Earth to Adam and Eve. The devil never had the right or power to rule over the Earth. He took it through deceiving mankind into sinning. Mankind yielded their God-given authority and power over to satan. The only reason satan has ever been able to oppress, dominate or cause problems is because people yield their God-given authority to him.

God is Spirit and He gave authority over this Earth to mankind. ONLY human beings, who have a physical body have the authority and power to rule and exercise influence on the Earth. Demons come to us trying to get us to yield our authority to them; they need a body to work through.

You may be wondering why God doesn’t stop this, why doesn’t He just break this up? It’s because of God’s own integrity. God is bound by His Word. God gave the authority to mankind and God won’t take that back. Now, it is up to each individual whether or not they will follow God, or be used of the devil.
